Supporting Wellness and Community

Let's start with wellness.
Supporting wellness can have different meanings for different people. For some it may be addressing a specific health concern; for others, the emphasis might be on preventative health care. Some people may want to focus on going inward and addressing a variety of issues, with an intent on growth and working towards realizing their individual potential. Therefore, my job as a practitioner is to support people with what it is that they are asking for on their journey to wellness.

What does community have to do with health and well-being?
I think we all know the wonderful support a community can provide when it works well together. Inside our bodies we have a community. You have many organs such as the heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, stomach, among others, and their sole purpose is working together to provide us with life, health, and well-being.

The Officials
In acupuncture there are 12 bilateral Meridians (Officials in CFEA) that we primarily work with. Each Official is associated with and connected to an organ. The term Official refers to a certain role, function and responsibility each one facilitates within in the body.

All it takes is one or two members of the community not doing their job before it ripples out and affects all of the other members. In any community, there is also the possibility for conflict and in-fighting as well. These are the causes of imbalance that manifest and lead to symptoms, disease, and disharmony on all levels (body, mind and spirit).

As a practitioner, my role is to support the Officials working together as a community and resolve internal conflicts which in turn, benefits YOU. Our bodies have all the resources they need to live healthy and thrive. CFEA’s role is to give us better access to those resources and get everybody in the community in alignment, bringing a greater sense of self and overall well-being.
