This is a rough guideline of what to expect in the treatment process. Length of time and severity of condition, as well as diet, lifestyle, and overall goals of each patient, will all play a factor in the duration and frequency of treatments.
The process begins with an initial intake and diagnosis where I sit down with the patient to discuss what is prompting them to seek treatment and go over their complete health history. Then I design a unique course of treatment taking into account a patient’s personal objectives, age, condition and various constitutional factors.
Subsequent treatments are then scheduled on a weekly basis for a month or two. A commitment to a series of 8 treatments is highly recommended, because each treatment builds on the previous one by breaking old energetic patterns and establishing new ones. As the overall condition improves and a certain energy balance is maintained in between treatments, they will be spaced progressively farther apart.
Please do not wear any fragrances, scented products or heavy make-up. Avoid caffeinated beverages and strenuous physical activity prior to the treatment. It is recommended not to come to your first treatment on an empty stomach.
The needles are very thin, have a flexible shaft, made of surgical stainless steel. They are pre-sterilized, packaged in a sterile environment, and are disposed after each use.
Often times, an individual does not feel the insertion of the needle piercing the skin. However, when the needle makes contact with the Qi energy of the acupuncture point, one may feel a tug, dull or achy sensation.
In CFEA, needles are used to access the Qi energy of acupuncture points along a meridian. In most cases, the needle is immediately removed after its insertion. Needles in CFEA are typically not left in for long periods of time.
Although I do not bill insurance, I can provide a form that you can submit to your insurance company or Flexible Spending Account for reimbursement.
